Like a dummy, I allowed the port side block to cant inwards, hence the difference in thickness. Oh well, that's why I added those 1/2" squares and 1/4" nose block.

Front view. Ready for final carve to shape.

Top view nose contour.

Nose contours sanded to shape.

1/2" squares added to tops and bottoms of both sides lengthwise b-4 adding top and bottom blocks with 1/4" nose piece. These will compensate for sanding thru at front when proper contour is attained.

Stringers doubled, ala DD. sheeted between Formers B2 & 3. 3/8" sides and bottom w/1/2" top on front fuselage. 1/16" sheet glued to side keels as insurance against cruching formers when sheeting.

The 500 series Bf-109 has all the same problems. The shape of the stab is wrong also and it is below scale area, a real problem if you intended to fly it. The box art shows an E but the plans and plastics are a Jumo engined version, B through D. Some of the D's had ejector exhaust stacks line the later models, the earlier ones had flush exhausts or short, tubular stacks. The canopy supplied in the kit would only be for a B through E-3. Starting with the E-4 they used a flat topped canopy. The overly long fuselage with a short nose gives the model, built out-of-the-box, a soft, but lean look, not the menace of a 109 on the gear. Oddly enough, for a Guillow kit, the decals are accurate for a Battle of Britian Bf-109E. I am also building one of these at the moment, as a Bf-109E-3 with Swiss markings.

Wow, the ideal gas law and mass-energy equation. All we need now is Newton's 2nd law and Bernoulli's equation. John O makes a very good point that it is vital to use the proper units!

looking good poppy cant wait to see this one.You are a inspiration to all of us.

But what if the t is lost in Translation.
John M Oshust, Comment for image # 572510 Jan 08 22:09
No I think it is PV=NrT.... and the T better be in Kelvins!
Barnstormer, Comment for image # 572510 Jan 08 21:43
I meant the E=mc2x m+v=r
Barnstormer, Comment for image # 572510 Jan 08 20:38
Wow, do you guys know of some translation software I can download so I can figure out what your talking about??

Hey what's with the Ohm's Law lingo....this is an aircraft site. Maybe a little bit of Reynolds Number lingo. Whew, that's a blast from the past. I think I saw trails too. TMI. Nice job Poppy, and yes the canopy for this kit will need tweaking.

Thanks, guys. With 565 employees in my operations group, I was an employer, mentor, father confessor, instructor, baby sitter, and I hope I taught a few of them something. Now there is only the wife, and she never listens to me while continuing to remind poppy that she is not one of his employees.

E = IR, I =E/R, R = E/I. I think? I seem to remember P = I sqR and maybe P =IE but I'm not sure. CRS = can't remember sh..stuff. Best job I had in the service.
SteveM, Comment for image # 572510 Jan 08 17:43
The good stuff like V=IR, P=IV, and I=C(dv/dt)?

I get goosebumps just seeing spec. info on aircraft. Love the little scale chart in bottom right. My architect scale rule and dividers find a lot of work in my builds, and are considered indespensible.

I was an instructor in basic electronics for 2 of my 20 years in the Air Force. When my students called me a teacher I told them the difference was that teachers cared. Poppy is indeed the teacher and we are all his students, fortunately.

Besides a master builder, you are becoming a teacher. I can pay no higher compliment to you.
