Today's progress. 2 coats of gloss white. One more to go then I can start on the other details of the paint scheme.

1st coat of primer for today. Just a little more filling/sanding and it should be ready for the base coat soon.

Thanks Poppy. I did contemplate making into a TF-51 but its going to be a reno racer instead. Honestly I had to make an educated guess on a lot of the interior because there were not a lot of cockpit shots of the particular mustang I am building. I do know that it had duel seats like a lot of mustangs do.

Nicely done, well detailed!! Looks like it's a TF-51 with the second seat and controls.

Thanks for the comments. I actually modeled this cockpit after the P-51 Miss America and some other photos I came across. A lot of custom built P-51s I have seen have a cockpit like this with an instrument panel that has been updated with more modern gauges.

That is one of the best scratch-built cockpit details I've ever seen! Thank you for sharing it here. Now I need to duplicate your technique on my P-38 instrument pannel. Excellent idea, and it looks awsome!

Wow! Nice work! I am currently doing the cockpit for my Guillow's P-38 in the same scratch-built style. Lotta work, but definately worth the payoff. If you aren't satisfied with the floor finish, you might try softening and blending it a little with a Q-tip & just a whisper of solvent on it. Great job though!

With the plethora of details to look at, I didn't see the floor. Superb quality!

My attempt at painting wood-grain looks more like tiger camo to me.
