Don't see any fancy wood slicing equipment, so assume all your in-fill work is done with X-Acto knives, straight edge, and sanding block. Do you use a razor saw?

He who accumulates the most modeling tools WINS!!!! By the same token I agree with David about excessive accumulation in the work area.

Thank you. I'm not a tool person and I don't like clutter as it tends to be a distraction. I find it best to keep only what I'm working on in view. There's always the tendency in building a model to start hanging all the pieces on "to see what it looks like" and I'm #1 at it but I prefer to build the pieces separately and concentrate on each one at a time before doing that. The table also serves as my easel and when painting it's even more important to keep things organized. You could say it's my comfort zone. I fully understand that it would drive some folks nuts.:-)

This is one of the things that I have always marveled at when watching your builds. Your work is always on a clean, uncluttered table, and the only tools on view are brushes, Xacto knives, sandpaper or glue. The most important tools, of course, are not in the picture: the hands and eyes. I hope to someday be good enough at this so that I no longer need some of the tools I am now accumulating.

It's not the length of the magician's wand, but the magic that is in it!

The wing rib pattern came from the balsa keel and is pinned on for reference. First pieces of the canopy are glued in place.

It will be an F-80.

If anyone is wondering about the difference, it is the little red bar in the "stars and bars". When the US Air Force was formed in 1947, they added the red bar. And plane designators changed from "P" (Pursuit) to "F" (Fighter). The P-51 immediately became the F-51.

Work on the P-80 will resume when I finish the painting I've been working on since November. Another coat of filler is required before starting the finishing process. I'm working on the Mosquito sporadically when my eyes can't handle the painting. P or F unknown at this time.

I wanted to ask: What's going on with the P-80? And will it be a P-80 or an F-80?

Great modification!! That should really help to avoid warps
David Duckett, Comment for image # 3064203 Feb 14 07:40
The plans call for the keel to be 1/18" wide strips of 1/16" stock which seems to be common to Cleveland designs. That seems a bit flimsy for the 3/32" formers and stringers so I decided to make a solid piece keel of 1/16" stock. I also wanted to make sure I got it straight when joining the halves. Worked pretty good so I think it will be the way I build all Cleveland kits.

Is that balsa spine/keel something you added? I don't remember Cleveland kits having those pieces.

A few left over pieces start the next sections.
