I found an rc version of it including video in flight but nothing small enough for free flight http://rcpilot-videos.magnify.net/item/WRLM10PST4QCP369

I only found her in small plastic models. The plans were from Clevland Airlines....I purchased 1/8 scale plans.

Do any manufacturers produce a kit.I'd love to make one but A scratch build might be a bit hard for me at the moment.

Gess what.......THE RAT. I never knew much about this aircraft. The book lists it as "ONE OF THE GREAT WARPLANES OF HISTORY . Note POP EYE on the tail. Thought you would get a kick out of this.

Yep. The Guillows kit 804 is 1/32 scale, so they should work out fine. I have two of them comming from Russia via the UK.Cost me about 70 bucks, the hobby budget is now broke till April.

I think I have seen these on the net but the scale has been too small for anything that I have built. Williams Bros. has a 1/8 scale radial that could be used in the Rat, but the Rat engine is not visible and the engine is over $50. I assume that you are using one of these in your DC-3

Well I went ahead an ordered two R1830s from these guys. What the heck its only money. W is sending us all $300 bucks so why not? Anyway I had to see them up close & they will be great for the DC3. You guys need to check em out , Go to www.Neomega-resin.com The 1/72 and 1/48 scale stuff won`t do us much good, but the 1/32 will work the DC3 B25 and other stuff . Let me know what you think. from Russia with love.

That is a real work of art. I think I see some oil leaking from one of the cylinders.:-)
OLD A&P, Image # 670021 Feb 08 23:53

John M this is the R1830 I was telling you about.

The screws are steel allen set screws !/4 20 3/8 long,I got from Lowes. Hard to tell I know because everything has a coat of gray primer on it. I have used threaded plastic rod in the past . It is cheap and works good and is easy to cut. Used plastic rod on my Spirit of ST. Louis. These little allens were the right size, so I used them this time. The rocker boxes are balsa, you don`t see them much once the engine is in the cowling.I found 1:32 scale plastic Wright R1830 engines on the inter-net that look really cool, but at 30 bucks each It`s too much for the old pocket book
John M Oshust, Comment for image # 669021 Feb 08 19:44
Are those plastic screws?
John M Oshust, Comment for image # 669021 Feb 08 19:37
