JG..Thanks, I am not 100% happy with the compromise design but at least one now can imagine the LG retracting with a bomb installed. A small life compromise...but! |

Nicely done and very intricate. BTW the little silver prop is "Aces" |

The bomb swing arm is neither Douglas nor Guillows...it is a compromise. The wheel well kit plastic is far from scale an either arm would have blocked the LG wells, preventing the LG from retracting. Note, if the wheels did retract they just clear the compromise design arm frame and look like they could retract. |

Super. The "Magic Box" scores again. |

Not skilled at making the plastic kit supplied bomb, and reading about the effort that poppy exerted making his from plastic, I decided to "scratch one. A suitable cardboard tube, scrap balsa, and cardboard for the fins. Having the "junk" in the "Magic Box", total time invested 40 minutes from start to finish. |

Checking the fit in the bomb carrage. |

Mars black, some stiping tape, small Al fuse prop...a half hur 1000 ld SBD bomb. |

I'd love to but with the underpowered 9 cylinder radial it would be too hard to spin. Cannot find any photos of an SBD with 4 blades. |

Gotta go for the 4 blade! |

Yes both in flat and gloss. The gloss adhesive stinks. The flat sticks like a good masking tape. |

Did the striping tape come in the flat color??? |

Forgot to mention. All edges were covered with thin gas line tubing. This simulated the rubber seals that seal the can of peas. The gas line also gives the edges a nice finished look. Even W/O painting, doing a can of peas this way takes time, but time is something I have! |

I cannot paint "cans of peas" quickly or easily and get good results. Originally, I liquid masked and painted the windscreen silver. But did not like the color. Chart pack stiping tape the solution. |

Absolutely fabulous. What did you use to color the black frame work??? |
John M Oshust, Image # 16844 | 08 Mar 10 13:08 |
Possible prop. You can see I started painting the wing roots. |

When installed the canopy should look something like this. |
John M Oshust, Image # 16842 | 08 Mar 10 13:05 |
Canopy components completed. |

The rudder may need some sort of panel lines....maybe not. |

Rudder completed |
