Thanks poppy. The reason I asked was that on the P-38, it looks almost as if the panel lines are recessed. Broke out the instructions for the Badger last night, but all the yellow/green stripes will be completed first on the Lib.

Model Master covers as well as Tamiya. Brushes well also when thinned with water.

What with this photo and the recent one showing the reflection of DD, perhaps there should be a 'meet the builder' section of the website, maybe in the Your Hangar bit? Regular contributors could then post photos of themselves, so everyone else can put a face to the name? No obligation to do so though especially for the camera shy - myself included, I think!

Handsome devil, eh? Poppy looks good, too. For a kid. Check out the finish!!! That's smooth!

moostang51, that's all there is to panel lines. More as I progress.

Plastic 6" rule now used for straight ligns and simple curves. Pic courtesy of my wife.

And there you go. First line complete.

Purple tape is used on difficult curves to guide pen. This tape has very little sticky surface so will not leave residue.

I will also use a 1/48" scale plastic model. Multiply measurements by 3 and you are very close. The Guillows model is almost 1/16" scale. When drawing lines over tissue or silkspan a light touch is needed.

For panel lines, these are my tools; a 6" plastic flex rule, a 12" and 18" metal rule, Pro painters purple tape, and a Faber Castille india ink pen both fine and small tips, and a suitable scale drawing. In this case I have a 3/4" scale drawing I can use for fuselage. And lots of patience. Measure 4 times, draw once.

I never tried Model Master Acrylics. How's the coverage? Always used Tamiya. And a double action brush, well I'll just hope that I don't get any condensate that you sometimes experience with a single action brush. It was a gift from the queen (wife) so maybe I'll give it a shot. Gotta get me a small compressor. Thanks and looking good, poppy.

ModelMaster acrylics, Dark Sea Blue over Intermediate Blue and White undersides. That is a Paasche VLS double action airbrush used with a Craftsman 1 HP compressor. I also use a Paasche single action brush but it's 30 yrs. old and leaks air a bit.

Bring it on poppy. I'm awaitin'. What kind of airbrush is that? I have a Badger 200.3 but no compressor, only the canned air. I usually thin with rubbing alcohol, very cheap esecially for cleaning.

Out of finish paint shop. Moostang51, panel lines are next.
poppy, Image # 380831 Jul 07 05:55

Final sanding and primer coat. Next stop, paint finish shop.
poppy, Image # 380731 Jul 07 05:53

Tail feathers covered and doped, tail hook installed.
poppy, Image # 380631 Jul 07 05:52

Cowl flaps installed. I used .010 guage sheet plastic for flaps.

Well, I would prefer metal, but that's the idea behind the finish.
