I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

Gesso, as in Jesse, is made to prepare nearly any porous surface for painting. It is used primarily to prime raw, or unprimed, canvas. The combination of these two will produce a finish smmoth as glass and with all the holes filled. It also makes the wood harder. Gesso is used directly from the bottle and produces a flat white which covers quite well.

Reminds me of a joke about an elephant and a saloon. The rudder turned out nice.

Pardon me, these are booms🙀

Warm weather has allowed the covering to start. The wings are done and today should see these pods done. The hubcap is made from styrene.

The idea comes from the large Top Flite kits.

I'm going to try that on the Ailerons and flaps of the A-26.

That's smooth. Those rudders are a little tricky, even on the baby I did.

Ready to cover

Taped and pinned together

1/16" wood was tapered in the back and the front glued to the styrene, a bit of filler, and sanded smooth.

...to make the wing air intakes. They fit flush with the leading edge so wood must be removed.

1/8" wide thin styrene wrapped and glued around a 1/16" balsa form

Very nice.

"Dragons live forever, but not so little boys". After this winter I think he may have an idea, but I'm not ready to admit to "old age".

Thanks, DD. Posting a pic of my structure next.
David Duckett, Image # 3998306 Mar 18 09:56

This is three pieces of 3/32". The center piece is framed with pieces on both sides for the front and bottom. 1/16" x 3/32" strips are glued on to simulate the structure. It will be sanded to an airfoil and covered with silkspan.

He did live by the sea but decided the desert would be better for his old age. I'll post a photo of the assembly.

I thought he lived by the sea. That is really looking good. What did you do there on the rudders? (That I could use instead of silkspan)- :)

My new Chief of Staff, Puff, is rumored to have magical powers.
