I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

I'm covering outside using nitrate dope and I was good from 6 am until the temperature went over 100 about noon. I'll finish the covering in the cool of tomorrow morning.

The pencil line above the wing is for alignment purposes. The fit was very good so I had to use only a small amount of filler.

The wings and major portion of the fuselage have been covered and the wings have been glued in place.

Ooooh! If I send my catalog to you could you sign it? Please? It's for my wife. Yeah, my wife, that's it, it is! Really!! Congrats James. Your builds are always crisp and clean. You deserve the recognition. Cheers.

James is famous!

Thanks, Poppy. One of the vets on the site said he was stationed at Yuma, Arizona at the same time as your friend was at March and that they had "D" and "E" models which were not called Sabre but were known as "DOG" and "ECHO" so I guess this one's a DOG. Diels kits are much more correct in scale than Guillows so when the shape starts emerging it looks more realistic and therefore, to me, more pleasing to the eye. I've checked the contents and plans for the three new ones and am quite pleased.

A good friend flew these during '54-57, based at March AFB, CA. I asked him what it was like to fire the rocket pod and was surprised to learn that he never had the chance to fire. It seems that live fire was at a premium after the Korean conflict.

1955---WOW. For this old codger, it seems just like yesterday.

"USAF" marking for wings approved on this date in 1955.

What a character he looks! How can one help but not like him.

Deviations from plan are 3/16" sq leading edge (instead of 1/8") and 1/2" shaped trailing edge (instead of 1/16" x 3/16"). The fuselage has had one coat of filler applied and sanded.
