| well I appreciate that John..but I have to admit that DD's earlier reference to the balsa 'top' got past me until I pulled out the instruction sheet again and finally noticed the 'balsa crown' one is meant to apply and sand to shape on top of the pilot's head..lol - I think I'll skip it anyway now that he's painted but I missed that step as David gently noted |

| HW: You've done a great job. Keep in mind, once the oval cockpit covers are in place (coaming), most of the instrument panel will be "under the cover" and people would have it stick their noses real close just to see the panel. |

| panels are in...looks like I got the damn compass mounted vertically somehow. I had to make the slip ball indicators as I am almost out of gauges. I might just cover that compass with a placard or homemade replacement. |

| John, thanks - I have painted enough military issue pilots to fill a stadium by now. I did make one adjustment to this guy. I removed some of the plastic ‘scarf’ material under his chin so I could tilt his head back down to a level plane. Poor guy had a crick in his neck staring up at the sun.
Dave, I check their site periodically too and have noticed it’s almost a year since their last MOTM images were updated. |
