I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

Well certainly no TV reception if you're going to cut up the rabbit ears! ("No TV and no beer make Homer something, somthing." "Go crazy?" "Don't mind if I do!")

A nifty bit of engineering!!

It's been a long winter with no TV reception Gary.

Very clever Nigel. How many cold night's in front of the fire did it take to come up with this bit of inspiration.

Winter is nearly over here so time to get back in the workshop. I have re-designed the postionable landing gear legs for the Kittyhawk using a 'bunny ears' tv aerial. They allow the gear to retract up and down and then turn through 90 degrees.

Yiiieeeks!!!! Please keep the matches away from this guy!!!!!!

Gary, this is basically all you can see of the Mossie as the guy won't open up the shed any more than this. The whole building is literally jammed from floor to ceiling with aircraft parts. I post a couple of pics of stuff he has lying in the yard (fully exposed) such as Kittyhawk wings, Mosquito engine/wheel nacelles (14 of them !) and a Vampire jet fighter lying in the weeds. I'm also getting hold of a photo of me sitting in the cockpit of the Mossie - man was that a buzz ! Every single button, dial and guage is still in place. To date the guy has been utterly reclusive and you can only enter the property with prior permission. Even then we had to wait an hour in the driveway and negotiate again because he doesn't like more than two people to visit at a time. He has never parted with a single component but just recently a combat veteren Lockheed Hudson bomber with Jap bullet holes was liberated from him by the guy restoring the Anson. Also one of those wheel well/sponsons for the Mosquito was sent North to be used in connection with Jerry Yagen's Mossie build. The guy has previously threatened to burn the shed and everything in it if people annoy him too much - but it's a very good sign that he has parted with some of it's treasures recently.

Amazing to see something like this, looking brand new. I think the Shuttleworth Collection in England has an airworthy Anson too, although it's not in RAF colours.

Wow, fascinating stuff. Thanks for sharing.

Way Cool place to visit. You must have had a ball Nigel. I hope that this guy has a plan for his collection should something happen to him. I'd hate to think that they all just ended up on a scrap heap somewhere or sold off overseas. Any other pics or was he a bit protective about the rest.

Here's another beauty being build nearby - which I understand will be the worlds only airworthy Avro Anson when it's finished.

As Willie's Mossie is topical I thought I'd show you a shot of a eccentric old chaps shed which is quite close to me here in Nelson, New Zealand. What we are looking at is an RNZAF Mosquito, utterly complete and rumoured to have only 60 hours total flight time. The old chap here bought it off the airforce in the 1950's and they gave him three days to dismantle it and get it off the base- which of course he did !. He then somehow moved it over 100 kms on our narrow roads and reassembled it and built a shed around it. He has a fascinating collection of planes he bought home including a Mustang, Kittyhawk, Hudson Bomber, Harvard, Tiger Moth and of course this bueaty. The guy is a real odd chap and he won't sell anything. He just likes to look at it. Who can blame him.

You're getting some high praise from some great builders. Very well deserved, too.

without the twist there would have been many a hard landing. I love the engineering, was this your concept? Either way, it is nicely done.
stirling, Comment for image # 1827213 Jun 10 00:02
Yup. Love the sand paper idea!!

Kiwi engineering at its best!!!!!

and finally twist through 90 degrees. Makes it harder being a P-40, why couldn't it have a nice easy straight up and down u/c !!!
