I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

For Don: Berkeley also made a kit of the Beaver with a 48" wingspan. The ailerons and fin/rudder will be fabricated from laminations and will probably cause the plane to be tail heavy so the intakes will probably have to suck up some weight.

True work of art. Each piece seems to fit absotively posilutely perfect. Reminds me of those wooden pieces of art with various woods and ivory inlaid in between. Almost hate to see it covered.

The front sections need a bit of repair in the upper right hand corner, all 4 sections, before I can add the braces. An extra piece of wood is glued there and sanding will bring it all together. As soon as it warms up...

Phil: The piece is actually 11/16" wide...you have a good eye! You can see how it curves. Here's planking on the fuselage, infill on the wing, and sheeting in between. These rear panels look tricky but are actually fairly flat.

Thanks, Phil. The piece you refer to was actually easy due to the way it's cut. I'll post a more informative photo later. :-)

Nearly all my models using infill are the same and you can see exactly how I did it on the build threads for them. This one doesn't have that much infill but I have used all the other methods I know of to cover it with wood. Planking, sheeting, solid wood, and infill have been used and it still gets filler and silkspan, as usual. The fun of a Berkeley kit is that they require lots of thought before you actually do anything, And all Berkeley kits are not built the same as say a Guillows kit. The Fairchild in my hanger is stick and tissue type construction whereas the Savage is mostly solid wood.

This is awesome David. I really like the way that 3/4" wide (I'm guessing here) strip near the spine rolls down and around the motor tube (?) blending into the trailing edge. That must have been REAL fun. It looks perfect. Can't see it in this photo though, hope you know what I mean.

DD, I couldn't come close to the tolerances of your infilling. Its amazing. Really closely following your build. Trying to learn as much as possible from you.

Stain would only show how imprecise it is:-)

I concur.

I love that span-wise grain David - skill & patience is the answer. (seems a shame to cover that work up!) Could stain it Red Cedar! :-)

Like this. The other sections will require additional bracing.
David Duckett, Image # 3538716 Jan 16 18:39

This framework is made of hard 3/32" stringers and will support the 1/16" sheeting. A 1/16" stringer (red) is glued 1/16" below the top and bottom edges of the wing root rib to support the sheeting.

Many thanks. The size doesn't really matter but fabricating the intakes is a challenge for sure. Fortunately I learned on these kits so the lack of plastic pieces is not a problem and making everything from balsa is always satisfying.
