The air scoop for Ogre took three tries until I came up with the proper material and result I wanted. A few expletives wafted up the basement stairs. The "Wuffy" thought I cut myself. No injury, just design frustration! Brandy does help:-)

The wood blank is in transit. It is BTW cherry. A blank 1.5 in x 1.5 x 36 inches. Intended for life as a pool cue stick. Somehow I think it shall be happy as a four bladed air screw:))

And an occasional brandy

Little bits, rest avoid errors and the repairs that come with them.

OK. Now that explains it. I went back and checked out the pulleys and was trying to figure out which went where. Needed a break. I'm trying to mask the cockpit windows on the 46. Grrrrrr

The fact that all your intricate do-dads actually function is amazing.

That scoop is really something else. How about an airscrew from cherry??? :-)

Don C. One of the wing pulleys utilized to direct force to the ailerons.

Don C. I utilized the pulleys that I constructed a couple of weeks back. One style was installed in the wings, small pulleys on the wing surfaces.

That's really nice. Do the cables just go right through the wings on a roller or pulley?

rayl, I certainly will. I have run into this problem before. Completing a model when the weather is not conducive for "fresh air" photography. Ogre will fly with Nunzio in our garage. Outdoor photos will be in order when he is transported from basement shop to garage.

Excellent! Hopefully one these bright spring days you will take the Ogre out of dungeon to the sunlight to take some pics.

Thank you but I still need an airscrew. I await a supply of wood.

The ailerons are connected together with cable. The crossed silver cables pull the ailerons and their connecting strut up or down. The continuous loop of cable produces the opposite effect on the “Udder” side. The linkage cables for the ailerons are exposed running, almost medially, on the upper and lower air planes. The ‘Jenny” has a similar external aileron system.

The air scoop for the RAF engine was finalized this day. The third attempt was the charm and the material of choice....Al roof flashing!!! When completed the scoop will be similar to a cap in that it can be removed with ease to show the engine. My research shows that though the “stock RAF aero-plane came equipped with a factory air scoop, the the scoop was either modified or removed in the field.

With all of the clutter between the windscreen and the airscrew it is easy to see why adding gun sights for both the Vickers and Lewis guns was a difficult and somewhat superfluous installation. The pilot can never easily align sights, over the guns, from his flight position. I would imagine that without a definite sight picture the nose of the aircraft was used and bullets were sprayed at the target.
