I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

Moos, I used a paper template to get the blades the same. I have no idea what frisket paper is. Sounds delicious! I used calipers to get the bades the same thickness

Easiest and surest way to make sure all prop blades are typical is to use frisket paper. See what blade is what you believe you want. Happy? Good.... then trace that onto the frisket paper 3 more times. Center on hub and point of blade. Sand to your hearts desire. No more Louisville Sluggers on blade three. Found this on some obscure site a while ago and it worked great. Measured with a veneer caliber after sanding and it was balls on.

Nuts and bolts...they are real. A pain to put together because they are so small. Keeps the fingers young!

Hub looking very nice. What did you use to create the bolt heads???

Further airscrew progress this day. Recessed the airscrew hub into the cherry.

Added the jimmies and jammies aka nuts and bolts.

More sanding tomorrow as the stain reveals scratches and flaws. Then the blades need metal on their leading edges.

Today's airscrew progress.

Yea, realistic prop carving is truly a time consuming art, very confusing too! Mine are usually rounded lengths with a peg on the end.

Only Gumby has that skill!
BriandKilby, Comment for image # 3377105 Apr 15 08:01
you could make a prop out of putty.

Happy Easter!
