Thanks for the info on the decals. I remember painting the numbers and USN on the side. Decals would have been better. On the picture background, the only one I got right was my B-17

I must say I am pleased with these decals! I was concerned about the white numbering on the red background but Josh at Bedlam assured me his decals would be opaque enough - dense enough - to cover without the red showing through. Also that they were easy to apply and took to both the setting solution I use and the clear coat with no problem. I can definitely recommend Bedlam Creations to anyone who wants to make a specific aircraft and who, like me, couldn't paint or create their own.

true Dave - that would be a start. I still like the idea of a generic backdrop image though - just for S's and G's

It's not so much having the background credible, it's having it uncluttered.

I understand completely.

thanks Don - it's funny but the whole time I was building that barn for my granddaughter I kept thinking I should build a hangar or line shack with a backdrop wall for my finished model photo's..I could find a suitable old poster of a farm or field and glue it up as a backdrop. But then I remember that I'm lazy

May I rephrase that? It's difficult to match an actual background. Still not right, but it's a great model regardless of where the picture is taken.

Very nice work. Colors look good. And yes, it's hard to get a "proper" background.

added details include the crew start station, crank housing, fuel primer, and switch..along with the oil filler aperture. I also added the fuel indicator tube and mirror along with the fuel lines.

Thank you, Don..I know purists might object to the lack of 'fabric' or ribs and stringers in all the usual places but having built and covered display models and seen how they deteriorate over time has led me to change the way I do things. This is indeed a smooth Stearman. And I worked particularly hard to get is as smooth as possible. I used Poppy's trick of wetting the filler and rubbing it into the grain with my fingers. I sure hope he would've liked the results too...

the Stearman project is completed
