I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

Except they are supposed to be lima beans

The cans of peas look good to me!

I had one unsuccessful vacuum mold after another till I was down to my last sheet of PETG. So I got desperate decided to try molding with a $0.20 plastic plate first. The 0.010" or so of the plate hides minor surface imperfections and provides a very smooth surface for the clear plastic. This does increase the size of the canopy a tad bit so it might not work. Dipping in Future would probably help smooth out the minor imperfections that remain, but I don't have time to let it dry and don't want to mess these up since it'll be a few days till I have more clear PETG.

My $2 pack of replacement 50 mAh batteries for the Corsair arrived this morning, as did an idea I got from a website who I can't site due to uhhhh... operator error on a computer operating system upgrade last weekend. To the post office!

Update: This circuit has been built and works correctly but I won't be using it just yet as the 150 mAh LiPo can't source enough current to power the motor in this plane.

I killed the 2x50mAh NiCd batteries from charging too quickly so I decided to try out a 150mAh LiPo cell and my low voltage protection circuit. The circuit works as designed but I quickly realized I was trying to draw about 3A from a 1.5A rated battery.

Looks great! Cannot wait to see some in-flight pics. Watch out for the trees.

No wonder I think it is under powered, in this configuration the HiLine Micro-4 motor only gives 15g of thrust. If I find it doesn't want to fly I can boost the power by adding another battery cell, but they claim this should work. I should also have mentioned that the motor, battery, prop, and associated wires/switch/jack weigh 25 grams, nearly as much at the airframe.

The Corsair is ready for her maiden, AUW is 53 grams. I will add more detail after it has flown. I have two seperate sources that say the wing area and weight are a good match to the motor, battery, and prop, but the thrust just seems weak to me.

I decided the 5" prop may be too large for the direct drive motor and switched it out for a 4" prop. It is identical to the prop that put the One Nite 28 into the top of a tree, so it should be good enough for this bird.

Canopy is held on with Neodymium magnets.

My Dumas P38 had terrible fitting plastic as well. Nice job.
SteveM, Image # 702110 Mar 08 04:06

Plastics are a terrible fit! Downright disgraceful on the oil coolers. Weight as shown is about 47g, flying weight should be around 50g.

Fuselage under the wing is assembled and covered. Not my best covering job ever, but it'll do.

Looks great, I don't care what anyone says, domestic tissue is ok.
SteveM, Image # 699909 Mar 08 13:58

All covered in new paper from Easy Build using the glue stick method.

I built the P38 from Dumas, and I must say the burnt wood is a pain to sand. My sanding paper turned black within a couple of min. I do like how easy the parts come out.

Skip - this one will be free flight. scigs30 - you are right it is laser cut, I sanded the burn marks off the outside edges of the formers but you can still see it on the inside edges. I got new tissue from Easy Built and will get back to covering it soon.

I know Dumas kits are laser cut, how did you get the burn marks off?
Skip, Comment for image # 682008 Mar 08 10:11
Is this going to be a free flight or RC?
