How did you make the face of the dials? |

The bar is rasied again...in a few months all planes here will have brass frames! |

JohnG, I chose this as my starter kit so I could do a quick build, get my feet wet, etc. Of course, one think let to another and here I am many months later. But I decided to make this a learning exercise as much as a build and I am really enjoying the challenges. Thanks for everyone's input. |

Not doubt...amazing AND outstanding work!! For sanities sake, I believe I'll just return to the simple Guillows 500 series and be stress free during my retirement years.

I had painted this at one point and then realized later I still needed to add parts to it. Dope thinner can really soften enamel paint for removal. |

The cage keeps getting more complicated. But I am learning a lot about soldering, burning my fingers and how to look at photos to get the info needed to scratch a model together. |

The horizontal wings were tissued and doped. For the rudder and the rest of the plane I will use tissue and Liquitex Artists Gel. Seems to work just fine and none of the smell of dope. |

Hinges are simulated by brass tube soldered to the larger brass channel. |

The brass tube was used to emboss the paper disks used for the inspection panels to give them some depth. The olive green piece will be located in the cockpit. I believe it is part of the RPM control for the engine. I have to add some pieces yet. The hammer is for when things don't go right. ;) |

The surface was sanded with 220 grit paper to smooth the finish. But I like the weathered look it gives. I will play with that some more. The bumps next to the ribs are where the cable for the control surfaces. I embossed those out of small pieces of tooling aluminum. |

White dots are paper-punch holes to simulate inspection panels. |

The wings have three layers of tissue. Obviously not a flyer. I wanted some strength to the covering. May try Monokote next time. Striping tape was added to the ribs, over the second layer to simulate the tape used to hide stitching. |

Thanks, John O for the suggestion of nail polish. |

I found some better photos showing what the see is supposed to look like. I decided to redo it. |
