Looks sweet John! Did you fill the open parts on the ailerons and wings so everything is closed off? |
John M Oshust, Image # 11674 | 02 Apr 09 17:42 |
LW...The ailerons fit so exact when I cut them from the wing. They rest in the "wings" as the epoxy sets! |

Another pair of wings in the hands of the molecules. |

The plan is to seal, fill, and prime the wings, then attache them. I can spray the whole bird. Apple red gloss. |

Ailerons cut in and attached. Wing tips fabricated and installed. |

poppy a real mongrel a bit of this and that from different builds. So far, except for sheeting this is made from scrap. |

Very unique! From this angle, it almost looks like the barrel without the top wing! |

Luke, She, who must be obeyed has informed me that I am painting a hallway tomorrow. I went back to the plane this evening. Made the tips and cut out the ailerons on the mini-table saw. The ailerons are on, the tips drying, photos tomorrow. BTW, If I recall correctly, I built the wings whole then cut the ailerons out on other builds also! |

That looks great John. Im interested to see how you do the ailerons...I never thought of making them after the wings were completed.
Fancy engine warmer for those cold days by the way. |

No sir, not for a bit. Tips, ailerons must be cut, wings sanded and sealed. Easier to work with the wings off the plane. |

Are these wings permanently attached??? |

Covered wings, now tomorrow, wing tips. |

Today a pair of wings. If you are sheeting wings this method is fast, easy, and strong. I hope to cover and start shaping them tomorrow. |

The wings should fit nicely. Just ordered the next build. Aredromerc 48 in Stearman. I plan on making it a crop duster. |

Even if it is just primer that looks SWEET John! What're you gonna do about the front of the wing fillet? It looks awfully close to the cowl to round off... |
