Would like to know the wing load of this ... but impressive indeed. Unconceivable just 10 years ago.

Intricate and impressive....good going Phil.

AUW so far, including battery. Balances good. Indoor/Outdoor. Maybe I'll get a real video camera for this one to make sure if something spectacular happens (other than it actually flying, that is). Carnage happens in this wonderful hobby. It's even better in Hi-Def nowadays!

when it's time to fly this little feller, will you be able to get some video? It's small size is just amazing to me, and I want to see it. Will it be an indoor plane?

Impressive

The battery compartment will be down the center. 1s 150Mah 15c.

Installed. Apperantly thr Lysander wanted a radio compartment hatch. It will be located forward of the canopy. Thid section of the fuse sort of removed itself during handling. he he ;o0.

Mounted the radio "Brick" (reciever,2 servos.Esc). The stock motor mount's (white) four posts (well I kinda broke one off, doh!) squeeze tightly into the four silicon inserts (Handy Dandy fuel line... again). Why? Your guess is as good as mine! Maybe to keep the gear buzz from resonating through the model like a speaker. ;o). Machined in 2 degrees right thrust and 1.5 down. Will be swinging a big Prop (relatively speaking).

Just going to use carbon rod with bent wire "Z" bends on the ends. Found that using micro Heat shrink tubing and a dab of CA works great for that on small models like this. You can shrink the tubing around the wire and rod (use a soldering iron not a flame. The carbon rod will distort if heated too much. Believe me, I know! ;o) ) and this will yield a tight, but adjustable, length for fine tuning. then lock it in place with a dab of CA. These servos have linear motion so pull pull cables would add more monkey motion and I do believe I've had enough of that with this model! Phil

Wow, I would love to see this in person! Thread for the tail surface linkages?

What a wonderful informative photograph.Soak the balsa in Helium before sealing the wood. Makes it more bouyant in flight!
pfinn, Image # 1617831 Jan 10 20:50

Slowly but surely... Basic 1/16" square balsa Stab but added very lightweight 1/32" caps and sanded to airfoil (max thickness at 25-30% to .020" (about) at trailing edge. Offset hinge line. If this "Lead Sled" is going to fly, it's going to need all the help it can get!

Back to the Lysander. Chunky beginnings of the tailgroup. The elevator (er?) is split, hence more of the wire bend-a-roo's. Actual hinges this time...

He's just missing his "Crusty Crab" baseball cap. Then it would be perfect...he...he...

An Avro Shackleton, Heinrich. A British maritime patrol aircraft (which the Nimrod replaced). This was discussed this morning. :)

The really interesting question is: What plane is that on the right? Four engines w. contra-rotating props - a Tu-95 Bear? Any ideas?

You're bad!

WOW! Super engineering going on here.
