I am feeling better.

Landing gear seems a bit cumbersome, though.

One of my favorite modern aircraft. Used to hear them going over the office on the way to KMIA. As Phil said, a really distinctive sound. Extra marks for the Ferrari logos they carry too!

Someone here in So Cal has one of these (Just white though!). Fly overhead about 3-4 time a week. Very distinct, high pitched sound to it. Very similar to the Beech Starship. Apparently the aerodynamics create a "Square" sound wave. "Prop-Jet" is what they're called. The Piaggio is actually built from the inside out, unlike most molded composite aircraft

This is a mock up of a Piaggio P-180 Avanti II on display in Milan, Italy, painted by an Italian artist and named Cacciatore di Stelle, Star Catcher. Hope you're feeling better.

Dave, I have not entirely been well lately, is this another of your builds? Great work on the pusher props.

David This is very correct, I use to see them all the time buzzing us off the coast of Antoui, By 1969 they were phased out and the old Scooter we use to call them, Thge A4,s Skyhawks they were there successor. The flying dump truck was one of the most powerfull and last of the prop drivin fighter support aircraft the NAVY used. I joined the navy in 1958 I was 18 back then, the AD6,s were all Dark Blue, and by 1960 they were repainted Gull gray and White undersides. your doing a swell bang up job on the old AbleDog. Boats

Sorry to intrude on a superb model build David but does anyone at VA have a set of plans for a Sterling Albatros WW1 Fighter ? I have acquired the kit but no plans !!!!! help !

The stick on decals furnished are larger than this one, from a Guillows kit (?), but this is scale. I believe the larger ones would have been correct on an earlier blue model.

Thanks. According to the notes on the instructions, the AD designation was changed in 1962 and became A1-....The plastic kit shown at the start of the build is an A1-H and I'm using it as reference. I always think of the Skyraider as an A1-E, regardless of which model it actually is, because that's the way I heard it in Viet Nam. For the first half of 1968, they were a familiar sight operating from Pleiku AB and they were actively involved in the action following the loss of LS 85 in Laos on March 11, 1968.

Very nice AD, I seen alot of these when i was in the Navy I was aboard the old Essex bird farm. we had a lot of Able dogs aboard one hell of a airplane it is. By 1968 the navy started to retire them and the flew out as sandys, flown by the South vietnamese Airforce, The AD-2 and Ad-4 models were also used by the united States Airforce, To bad we couldn,t use them durring the second world war, They were suppose to be the succesor to the SB2C Helldivers, A Hardy Well Done she is looking sharp you do great work Boats

I think I read somewhere Gary that the last time Taupo errupted it turned the sky red over Rome and China such was the force of the blast. Bloody typical that we build houses on top of it :(

Moos I screwed the temp conversion up. I must flunk myself in chemistry. Arthritus of the brain!

Yip I remember the 1996 blow well Nigel. I can remember going out to the car after work and it was completely covered in ash dust. Made the sunsets pretty too. What would be more exciting is if Lake Taupo, (which is a huge crater filled with water and is in close proximity to Mt Ruapehu), blew. Man it would rain for days if that went up!!!
