That's a nice drawing. A larger version would be great! dg.walter@hotmail.com Thank you much... I found an article on making spoked wheels and thought while I'm at it I should try to build a model to attach them to. Might be too much for a beginner like me , but I'm gonna try it anyway.

Jimbothehotdog, if you can use this, I can e-mail you a larger version .pdf to printout to the size of your choice. Phil

Cut bottom of rib profile first. Snug blank into jig. Line up indicated leading edge (blue arrow...which is the only constant point on all these ribs) and trailing edge through rear corner.

James, here's what I used to cut the ribs...this time. Fairly rudimentary. Two "Sweeps" or "French Curves" and a simple jig to hold the blank. Blue tape is for photo. It'll change color magically throughout this "How to"!

Winter's on it's way. Katarina gets a new workbench (on the right). The not so subtle brainwashing continues! Broooh Ha Ha Haaaaa!!

Finally applied the bottom panel lines, struts and antenna. Hey it only took three months! Time for the Gallows.

I just compared the plans from the 400 series to the 500 series and they look the same except that the 400 series has a few more scale details and the nose has a smaller proportion made from plastic.
hjlittman, Comment for image # 1171005 Apr 09 15:11
Interestingly enough, in true scale the Bf-109 has a longer nose and a shorter tail. If they had kept to scale they would have a better flying rubber powered model. I think that the drawings for the 400 and 500 series Messerschmitts were done from the Guillow's pre-war solid model plans. Pre-war solids were notoriously inaccurate. I have a Comet, SuperStar, Bf-109E kit from the 1960s in my closet, and looking at the plans, it really is a Bf-109E. Now if I can just make the time to build it.

Thanks for the drawings. they are very helpful.
FLYBOYZ, Comment for image # 1171004 Apr 09 21:39
The BF109C has a shorter tail more like a ME109.I take one of each!HE HE!I was wondering why thier was such a long tail on my messerschmitt it was hard to balance out.Took a 1/4 inch off the tail.Still added a 1/2 inch nut in the nose.

And this is what you get with a Series "500" kit. Sorry, ancient plans. And the Vac cowl doesn't come close to this profile.

Some of my stuff at the "In-laws" garage (10 min. away). Can't work late in my own (condo) hence the "Pentouse" work area. My model building time: 10p.m to 1-2 a.m.

Sounds like I've got about the same as James, a small corner of my bedroom. However, I have dreams of a real work space.

After quite a bit of searching, found a company "Across the Pond" (Replikit, Green Air Designs) that sells a laser-cut short kit repro of an old "Mercury" models kit. Anyone know how international orders go? Easy or pain in the.... Would it be simpler to find someone over there (ahem,WS) to go through to purchase? I don't know. Thanks

Santa Ynez Airport CA. Just over the hill from Santa Barbara CA. Yes he still has it. Flies 2-3 times a week. Currently undergoing annual (the plane!). It's what they call a "Pilots'" plane. You fly it, it doesn't fly you. landings can be exciting. Notice, there are no flaps. "Slip" it in. Keeps you honest. B-Boy turned 81 yesterday.

Looks very nice to me. I have a tiny corner of my bedroom for my model making.
