poppy...I agree with you 100%. The saddest day came when I finished my Camel. To me ,like you, it is the process. The step by step mini challenges, the ups and downs of the process.

About the time. The longer it takes, the more enjoyment I get. You get to touch, glue, paint and all the other stuff. After all, when it's finished, all you can do is look at it. Or if you are a flyer, you can eventually watch it crash and burn.

Welcome to the world of artists and be glad you don't have to work with oils. It's not how long it takes, it's how well you do it. Looks like you do it quite well. It's a testament to your painting skills that it looks so "right" and not gaudy as the yellow and green might sometimes appear in less skilled hands. I would suspect that the folks who painted the original were going for gaudy, or ballsy, but this is much more pleasing to the eye while being accurate to the real one, with a slight bit of artistic license always allowed. In other words, it looks damned good!

Lots of time to do so little painting.

It's people like you, DD, poppy and too many others to name that make those who post here strive to be that much better. Mine only hang from the ceiling.....James, your aircraft have no ceiling, they soar like they were meant to. Still....one day....for me, only air currents underneath.

Some plastic installed ( 45 minutes). Tissued and doped (1 1/4 hrs). One coat light grey primer. Priceless. Thank you DD. Hopefully tomorrow, the nose and side .50 cal. glass.

Clear styrene patch work ala DD.

Thanks, today outside by the pool disguising those ugly seams you see when plastic pieces are applied, tissue and dope, ala DD. The green and yellow cowling is against Tamiya Flat Aluminum. Got to check and squeeze my swimtrunks, if I can count to two, possible airbrushing of full aluminum may take place. Need huevos grande.

This is looking fantastic. Nice to see a rendition of a formation assembly ship.

Starting to come together. Left wing to go next. Installing plastic pieces. Prop shafts actually provide handrest for stability while painting.

Lots of masking needs to be done.

Take a look at Rust-o-leum product called Painter's Touch. They have a gray primer, same used on my Hellcat, that is also sandable. Spray can, covers well. It might suit your color need. Got mine at Home Depot.

I was a Chem teacher in my former life. See a friend, chem. supply house, ask a teacher. It is highly explosive if treated right, but that's another story!

Okay. Where might one get his paws on aluminum dust? No rush, as all the markings will go on first anyway. Still have more glass to install on the fuselage but that is on hold right now as must finish details in the turrets.

Might I suggest an experiment. If you can obtain powdered AL dust, try mixing some into the Al paint, me thinks it will make a difference!

I'm considering a darker grey, as flat aluminum can be quite a pain when applied by paint stroke vs. airbrush. David, you had a silver grey on the B-29, was it an available color or mix of Liquitex colors. Masking a wing tonight.
