PITA...don't they shoot animals? If you want it absolutely exact buy a real plane! Super job!

Next underside grey will be a touch lighter. Also decided to hollow out the oil cooler intakes at leading edge. There were a lot more panels that could be drawn in but they can become a real PITA.

Very nice moostang! Looking just like the profile.

Looking good! I like the faded shading on the olive drab.

Holy Ship this comrade had quite a few kills. Micro Mark for decals or Testor's paper thru Tower Hobbies.

Decals for RTD. Question. Where do you guys get your water slide decal sheets? Scaled off Rechalovs' kills today and now must duplicate a decal. Going to need clear sheets for this and white for the serial #. Really don't want to use "flea" bay. I tried DD's method of stars. Kudos DD, I gave up. I can probably get away with it on the underside. Too nany colors bumping into green.

Woof, woof!

Looking good so far, can't wait to see it with the decals.

It is cyrillic RGA is the Eng translation. The Russkies would say Rechkalov Grigory Andreavitch
moostang51, Comment for image # 2145004 Mar 11 18:26
Those are his initials. I've been scouring the net for fonts of Russian alphabet to use for decaling. Thought it was cyrillic but no go. This guy has some life story.

Moos...Do you know the meaning of the "RGA" lettering???

Great job, love the weathering effect.

Soon to be the P-39Q15 of Maj. Grigoriy Andrrevih Rechkalov of the russian 16GIAP. Trying to locate stars for decaling his 56 kills and a better replica of his initials.

Original Yellow ochre and black mixture produced an olive color that dried over night much darker than the first photo I posted. By adding varying degrees of tan rather than white or more yellow, I faded the Cobra's individual panels. One more application of the original base color lightened just a touch and watered down should tie it all together nicely.

Looks great!

Moostang's version of a worn wing surface. The few blemishes in recessed panelines will be touched up with thin CA, covered with future acrylic, then washed with...who knows? My thanks to DD for a great lesson on how colors actually work.

I'm really liking the detail you've got on those flaps. I'm going to be doing a similar setup on my P-40.

With warmer weather coming up, I'll start practicing with the airbrush. This bird I definitely went over the edge.....and it will continue with washes and weathering. Love Nigel's P-40. Next build to be basically stock, maybe a Guillows jet.
