I meant modify. I hope you have not covered the whole thing because if you did I think you have a lot of work ahead. Though you could add sheeting to take the "Bend" out!

This photo shows the twist. Pick a side and sheet it all. Then midify the other side to fit. Your choice, sand down or build up!

If I beef ut up on the right how do I do it and where do I begin and end it?

Poppy, thanks for the encouragement. I had used the method of putting wet balsa and gluing it down before as an experiment, and it worked well. But I forgot about it until RodN reminded me of it. I,just now, put two pieces wet on and it worked very well. I forget things, and have to be reminded. Thanks for your help. And, also, I started using your method of applying filler, and it works very well for me.

Testor's wood glue or thick CA works fine. Never tried with Elmer's.

SW, you are doing fine. If you wet the wood and pat excess moisture off with a paper towel, it can be glued in place while still wet. LIGHTLY sand where joined, seal with dope or you preferred method, spray a coat of sandable primer, and fill with micro-fill or balsa filler.

Sorry typing too fast!!!! I mean't "will aid".

I could not agree more Barnstormer. As long as the foundations are secure the finish will be determined by the patience of the builder. SW in the past I have also used cyano-acrylate glues (super glues) to hold down the sheeting, if you wet the balsa sheeting and gently pull it around the curves it will curl easily. The cyano glues are hydroscopic so the moisture in the balsa with aid in the very quick curing of the glue. If you use a thin cyano glue it will bond pretty much straight away. BTW great build SW.

SW as long as the sheeting is attached well the priming sanding and filling and priming sanding and filling etc. will take care of it. Take your time and have patience it will be ok.

I hope practice makes perfect. It just doesn't turn out like I had hoped. It all is in the beginning, and no matter how hard I try to get it exact. It doesn't come out good.

This is all I got done, all day, what with repairing stringers after my finger would break it.

No matter how I try, I can't get it as neat as you guys. The surface that I'm covering just isn't even and level.

Very nice work SW!!!

That's interesting, John, I asked Tower Hobbies for the stiffest wood that they had available, and they said that it was the balsa that I used on this model. It was some girl, who, I don't think knew here head from her a--. I'll try them again. Thanks for the info.

SW...Tower Hobbies has 1/16 x 1/16 x 24 basswood stringers. 60 for $12.19. Suspect Sig Mfg. has them also. No matter where you live a computor and the internet can buy you anything you are willing to pay for.

John G. that's good advice, and I heed it, but, I live at the edge of the world. And balsa, or any hobby supplies are not available. I have to order everything online. Once it gets here, if I'm not happy with it, I'll send it back. If I've been waiting for it for some time, then I might just have to make do with it. Or be stuck waiting forever to have it replaced. I don't have Television service, so my entertainment is modeling and reading. So, sorry if I sound like I'm complaining in my post. I'm just trying to show why you see broken and repaired stringers.
SteveM, Comment for image # 794926 Apr 08 12:49
I bought some of the Tower Hobbies balsa too and found most of the sheets have one side that is soft and one that is hard. I'll usually cut the whole sheet into stringers and separate the soft from the hard ones. But then if the whole sheet is soft you are out of luck there. Stringers are a good place to use the heavier/hard wood as I too put my fingers through them all the time.

SW...MANY of us are old. Here's a simple trick I learned with flimsy stringers. BEFORE you start, flex them with your finger. If they break too easily...THROW THEM OUT!!! Go out and buy some that better suit your needs. Saves a whole lot of frustration. Bass wood works best for me.
