Notice the first stringer on the bottom has been repaired and the 4th stringer also. But I'm determined to end up with a "Poppy, or a John "O" or a Ducket", quality model when it's finished. Also, notice the broken stringer hanging down, that one just broke as I picked it up to turn it for this photo. "The trials and tribulations of an Old modeler"!

It took me about 3 hours to get this right. But, with the Lord's help I'll get it done. Notice the gap in stringers. The balsa I had to use for the stringers was so soft, that just the weight of my little finger, would break them. I got some stiffer balsa stringers from DD, and have repaired over half of them so far.

From a suggestion from DD, I traced the pattern for the fuse on paper and transferred to balsa.

If I let the Future dry at least 4 hours,it sands just fine. And clean up is easy, just warm soapy water, or Windex window cleaner, or any ammonia based cleaner. And it's cheaper than Dope. Since, it's water based acrylic, you have to be careful of warping, but once that problem is solved. It's great. It also is a good base for decals.

I use Future Floor wax as a sancing sealer, becaust I don't like the smell of dope and it's not available in Del Rio

those are two pound inserts from 10 lb leg weights. They work pretty good for modeling.

Looking good Sweet, what are you using there for weight in the plastic bags?
sweetwillie, Image # 799524 Apr 08 08:37

I let the leading edge dry overnight, and am now, white gluing the rest of the wing and using weight and pins to secure the covering. Poppy, I'm trying to copy your technique.

I'm atttempting to cover the wing by starting at the leading edge, and securing it. ala Poppy
