Thanks, no it's Esaki tissue.
harve, Comment for image # 458205 Oct 07 19:52
Well done! Is that kit supplied tissue? I thought only silkspan could be applied wet - thanks for the insight.

The centre section will be left uncovered.

Right wing tip, showing tissue which was applied wet ready to be trimmed and doped.

Chris, at the RAF museum, Hendon, there is a 1/5 scale model of a Spitfire 1A that is complete down to the last rivet and is incredible. It took David Glen 12 yrs. to complete. He is now 2 yrs. into building a P-51D in same scale and detail. Courtesy FlyPast Mag. April,2007 issue.

Ever since I first became aware of scale modeling in the UK, back in the 1950's, I have been amazed at the extent of detail that British modelers can put into their flying models. Yes, visit the link, this SE-5 is going to fly! I'll bet his research is down to the correct number of stitches showing up under the rib tapes. In my collection of Aeromodler magazines from the 1950's some of the magazine published plans look as though they just made minor modifications to the plans for the real airplane.

Wow makes my four months look meager!

I was browsing the internet the other day idly looking at various things SE5a related, when I came across this. I always thought the models on here by the likes of DD and poppy etc were detailed but this guy takes it to a completely different level! Admittedly he's working on a much bigger scale, but I have never, ever, before seen such breathtaking attention to detail. Apparently it's taken him 15 months to get to this stage, and he reckons it'll be another 9 to finish it off! Here's the link http://www.scale-models.co.uk/view.php?pg=se5a

This must be my lucky month for seeing WWII aircraft in flight! I spotted this B17 Flying Fortress while on a cycle ride to nearby Hayling Island (I live near Portsmouth, on the south coast). It circled twice, then flew off into the distance. I presume it had something to do with the Shoreham event that has been in the news recently.

Thank you gentlemen for your kind and encouraging words :-) The seams ARE visible (nothing major), just not in this photo. And no, I didn't arrange it with that intention! Having said that, it all turned out as well as I could possibly have hoped so I am happy with it, David! What you see here is 24 inches from tip to tip - the biggest model I've built to date. Goodness knows where I'm going to put it when it's finished! Now for the lower wing...

Seven dorsal pieces and not a seam to be seen, wonderful!

It Looks Perfect to Me....Very Nice
David Duckett, Comment for image # 444914 Sep 07 16:41
This is just about as perfect as I can imagine it being done, although Chris might see an "imperfection" somewhere. ?? Not to these eyes! If I could do this I probably would not have learned to paint. Model planes, that is.
