Absolutely Chris, The factory at Farnborough was the sight for the Royal Air Factory. I was a big WWI buff in my late teens and the implementation of flying machines versus zeppelins got me hooked. I believe it was from fear of the US draft during Viet Nam.

Hey, moostang51, I presume by the 'RAF' you mean the Royal Aircraft Factory - the makers of the SE5a? Because, as we all know, the Royal Air Force didn't actually exist until just before the end of the war, superceding the existing Royal Flying Corps.

I'm working on that James! That, and the instrument panel are next, then the cockpit will be finished and I can start covering the rest of it. The green (Japanese) tissue I got from SAMS models, it's darker than the usual Japanese tissue and just right for this model.

Wow. Just amazing! Got a nice little cushion ready for the headrest?

If this one comes anywhere near the FW 190 you built. Cheers to you Chris. The green tissue is looking terrific. The RAF would be proud.

Headrest and fairing in place, coaming added, and top rear of fuselage covered.

Hi cd!! This build is looking great thus far. I had just recently picked up the DR-1 but it might be awhile before MvR goes up to duel with your SE5. Hope things are well back in merry ol' England.

Instead of cutting the tissue flush with the bottom of the fairing I have left a little bit of overlap so that I can hopefully blend it in with the rest of the fuselage better, instead of looking like it's just been stuck on afterwards.

Headrest support fairing built and covered.

I added two the two diagonal pieces behind the support to give the fairing a solid base to sit on.

Cockpit surround going on.

Headrest support tacked in place while I build the fairing and cockpit area.

CD... I know the feeling, last week I was at my partime work in the machine shop/steel frabricating plant. I hear props. Leaving the building and looking up a B-24 flew overhead. Unfortunately my phone is camera free.

A Lancaster and Hurricane, an extremely rare sight. Good shot, Chris.

My wife and I were at a festival today in the village where my mother in law lives up in Surrey. Suddenly there was the roar of engines and we looked up to see part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight overhead, so I quickly grabbed my mobile phone and snapped this picture. What an awesome sight to see and hear a Lancaster bomber in flight - magnificent!

Perfect layup. I can't wait to see it finished!

I've noticed this before on these 200 series kits too. Maybe they used to supply thinner wood for the struts. Looking great Chris, you build so cleanly.

Looking good. Nice clean, smooth lines, like it was meant to be.
