Pure genius!! Are you guys sure that you're not secretely, magicians? I mean, none of us 'mere mortals', have the finesse or skill to do this.

Just a fantastic photo James. Can almost experience the horror a Flyboy might have felt when the Baron would turn to attack with the sun at his back and cocking his spandaus.

Thanks! I am looking forward to flying her again when I have a photographer available. This one is too hard to fly and take pictures of at the same time, and I always have a feeling each flight might be it's last because it's a handful in the air. :)

I just signed up recently so I apologize for the late post. What an absolutely fantastic photo. Great job on this project. I love the web site as well.

James, I need to add an aircraft (Cleveland Airline's MiG-15) not currently listed. Sorry to make the request this way, but I have not been able to reach you via email.

Okay now. Which one do I take down first?

A Tale of Four Giants & a Tiny Fokker.

This was the (easily repaired) damage after the first flight, from the rough grass landing.

Thanks guys! I took her to the field again this morning. Got another two flights on her. I was coordinating the rudder more with the ailerons, and turns were better. On the next flight, I taped an old bottle top and a small rock onto the cowling, and that also seemed to improve handling, so I think a little more weight on the nose might be in order. Ground handling it attrocious, both flights ended with a (non damaging) nose over on the tarmac. Still - getting better!

I for one think a reading list is a splended idea.

Thanks guys. I will hunt that book out on Amazon, thanks brennanj. Maybe I should add a 'suggested reading' page on here!

Very nice James. Great shot against the clouds. Another book worth reading is called "Flying Fury" By James McCudden. It was originally printed just after WW1 as "5 Years in the RFC". I picked up a copy in a second hand book shop for $15. It gives a good idea of day to day life.

I mean, you're trying to control 5 oz. of Anthony Fokker "whoopass". Patience James, a big screw for a light plane, experiment with the throws and throttle, I don't have to tell you. It's a beautiful sight in the air.

Wasn't the name James Good listed as one of the flight stunt consultants on "Fly Boys"? I flew u-control as a teen, go to the field with my son now to watch the modelers' club play with their toys; who knows, one day... maybe I'll be at the stick again.

Just watched the movie Fly Boys. This looks as good as those in the film.
