I think I may have to build at least one more Boeing Stearman at some point.. The next one however will be Lloyd's C3B from Flyline

biplane guy!! your models are a huge inspiration for me (and likely everyone else in the room) - sorry I didn't see this image sooner. Your work on the Stearman and Tiger Moth is top flight of course. Thank You for sharing them and to James and Robert for this invaluable website too

Thanks David. That's a glowing recommendation for acrylics having seen and appreciated the quality of your finishes.

All my builds are acrylics over dope.

The Stearman model used the supplied tissue adhered with Sig clear dope and finished with Sig Cub Yellow dope. I am working on a Sopwith Camel that I had intended to cover with Solartex which is no longer available. I can cover the Camel with tissue and dope but worry about paint compatibility with the dope. Sig does not have the colors I need (flat white and olive drab) and I need to know if anyone has had success with acrylics over dope. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Keith

The one I flew looked just like that, but was number 235. What a blast!

BPGuy - I can't find that "cutaway" of the Dr1 - in fact I can't make heads or tails of all those diagrams - if you remember how to get to it, please post me the exact link, and I will try to capture it with the "Snipping Tool"

Thanks BPGuy - I was pretty close ...

LW, Googled "Curtiss pusher control diagrams" and found this. Does this help? There is an excellent cutaway drawing of the DR-1 if you Google "Fokker DR-1 control diagrams." I wasn't able to copy and post it, must be copyrighted.

BG - those look like pretty realistic heavy duty leather leather instrument panel bumpers - thanks for pointing that out - is there a story to them ? They really add to the look ...

Hey LW, those anti-spin strakes were not part of the kit but were present on the aircraft I wanted to model. Skye was once again my source of info on all things aeronautical. He told me they were added because when a hood was placed over the rear cockpit during IFR training it disrupted the airflow to the tail feathers. Those strakes and those leather instrument panel bumpers are great conversation starters.

Biplane Guy - very interesting detailing on the "anti-spin strakes" on the top rear fuse - I was wondering what they were called ... - had to look them up - they are not on the plans of my Dumas 17 1/2 " kit.
