| Thanks poppy. I'm very OCD and there are some "non-scale" aspects to this build that drive me nuts. Most are my own fault. I didn't realize that I had built and covered the rudder wrong until I was ready to put the registration number in place on the fin. I was looking at a picture of the number that the Carolina's Air Museum had emailed me when I saw the mistake. The front tip of the rudder should have been the top of the fin. Grrr! Also, the pushrod exits for the ailerons and elevator, while necessary for the working controls, are not authentic. I will not obsess, I will not obsess.... |

| rayl, I did Google "flat wire" as you suggested. I found a company that had just the thing but had discontinued the two smaller sizes that would have been about the right scale. Thanks for the tip. |

| I did sand them a bit and used a silver Sharpie to color them. Easier than a brush. |

| BiPlane guy: TRy Googling "Flat Wire" you will be surprised at the options out there. Bookbinding wire might work. |

| Well it seemed like a good idea at the time. The reality is that the film on which the printing is done is fairly thick and isn't able to conform to the irregular surface of the ribs and tissue. This resulted in massive bleeding under the edges. Also, the adhesive is VERY strong. When I removed it from the port side of the fuselage it took the doped finish with it right down to the underlying tissue where it made a small hole in a thankfully small area. It was fixable but disappointing. I printed the registration number for the fin because it was too small to paint on. When I put it in place it smeared and had to be done over, this time sprayed with a clear coat of Krylon before the application to the fin. Next time I'll try making a decal. |

| You may have noticed that there is no "U.S." before the "NAVY". That's because the picture (also posted here) that I used to make the stencil for the lettering didn't include it. I wasn't aware it was supposed to be there until I looked at a picture of the other side of the plane. Duh. |
