Beautiful job "Mr." Biplane guy. You've really done a masterful job at the painting and trimming of colors and letters and numbers. Really a fantastic show. |

Hey Don. No, these are the larger Dubro hinges that I had left over from my last build 40 years ago. After struggling to cut the slots for the ailerons I realized they were not going to work for the rudder and elevator. Then I bought the small size for the remainder. Wish I had used the smaller ones for everything. |

Looks good and a bit familiar. Are those the small DU-Bro hinges? |

Biplane, just read your questions on my S.E. 5 postings... will gladly answer them there, if you don't mind. That way, we can keep the questions and answers on one posting... |

Biplane, your level of attention to detail is superb. The propeller is very nicely done along with the ignition harness. You added something I forgot. I forgot to add the connection tubes between the cylinders, but don't tell anyone.... ;0) |

I couldn't find the original number font the Navy uses for their aircraft markings, at least not a free version. There is one named Long Beach but they want $20.00 to download it. I'm going to scale this photo to 1-5/16" (for the numbers) and then print it on Grafix Clear Adhesive Backed Ink-Jet Plastic Sheets. I then hope to cut out the numbers and letters and stick the sheet to the fuselage as a stencil. I'll let you know if it works. |

Front view. Sorry, my pics keep getting turned 90 degrees. The engine will be installed with the exhaust on the left and the oil reservoir on the bottom. |

Beautiful plane. I can see why it inspired you to replicate it. The red band with the alternating colors on the numbers really makes for eye-popping candy.! |

Ahaaah!! The valves are normally in black, gray or painted yellow to match the color of the wing. Never saw them painted red. Great!! Thank you for showing me that. That's one heck of a great picture. Really shows off the plane in motion!! Sure wish I had that photo when building the -17. Thank you, Sir. I'll be posting a few pictures from my old A&P (Airframe & Powerplant) manual on turnbuckles and rib stitching for those who might be interested; on my S.E. 5 build. |

I wish I could say that those ridge lines were planned but they were an unexpected detail that actually wasn't even noticeable until the paint was applied. They were the result of the strips being cut with an x-acto knife. |
