Thanks Steve. I am hopeful that I will be able to talk to Mike W. at the "Handworks" event in Amana,Ia this spring.

I came across an old 14" Disston backsaw a while back for $5 that looked like a car had run over the plate and spine. I was able to straighten it out but was too daunted by the sharpening process so I took it to Mike Wenzloff and for $20 I got to chat with him about saws while he cut and filed new teeth on it. It is good to see that the skill lives on as that is a fine looking handle.

I was thinking that he was polishing the windshield and took a header. Check the look of concern on his mates faces and the rag lying on the tarmac.

Look at all the wondrous things to detail. That is some set of wheels. Is someone sleeping on the job?

Nice job on the teeth. Haven't tried sharpening for at least 10 years, but cutting new teeth is impressive, especially the 16 TPI. I'm surprised you're not cross eyed after that.

Another view. I handfiled and set the teeth on the plate to 16 TPI (crosscut). This project was just about as finiky as building a model. Anymore I need a LED headlamp and 2.50 glasses to keep the saw teeth in focus.

I was feeling burnt out on the XF-92 last week, so decided to catch up on other projects. A freind had brought over a old back saw for me to refurbish. I eneded up keeping the folded spine and replacing the saw plate with some 0.032" spring steel and makinig a new handle out of some localy harvested Black Walnut.

The geese are cool! I have a nephew who retired from the Air Force and moved to Baxter to raise his family away from sin and to make tires.

Yesterday, it was in the upper 40's. Motorcycles were out and what was left of the snow melted. Today: Blizzard warning with 10" expected, all the schools closed and (-) 16 deg for tonight. The old saying in Iowa: "If you don't like the weather just wait an hour it will change". GErturde and Heathcliffe are once again bemoaning the fact that they did not head to warmer climes.
