I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

Looks like you invented the first ejection capsule of WWI-WWII. I like the finish, do you spray paint or brush it on?

Like I said, the progress is slow, but I am learning a lot and enjoying the company and comraderie of this site.

My next kit will be a P-35. Lots and lots of opportunity to use these tools.

I'm not real happy with the tissue. I did a lot of experimenting (solder, paints, tissues). I wanted something sturdy for the covering. On the wings I used three layers of tissue using dope. The fuselage uses some old "tissue" from a Cleveland kit. Very heavy and not very conforming. It has some wrinkles, but then again, at my age, who doesn't.

This must date from WW2. Used to guide pilots to Williams, Luke and Thunderbird Fields. I had a pilot's diary of training at Williams in T-6s and he mentions seeing these guides.

Ed is the good looking one on the left. I am the one with no fashion sense.

Detail of the cockpit. The cage is just placed.

The cowling. Thin tooling aluminum, ebossed w/fake rivets.

Tailwheel. I've added the chain and springs.

Slow progress. It is still fun, though.

He lives out in B.F. Egypt. Fortunately, there were signs to point me home.

A few weeks ago I spent an afternoon with Ed Clark.

Well, once again it is in the wrong category. Do'h. I want the Piper L-4 to have a "rode hard and put up wet" look to it. These were front line planes landing in muddy fields. I would imagine they got a bit dirty themselves.

I love the painting part of modelling.

This should be with the other Piper photos in the STA category. Which is still the wrong category, but what the heck.
