That pile in the back just keeps growing. Several Cleveland kits waiting to be built including an A-20 Havoc and a B-17. Both in 3/4" scale. I can barely move the Cub around without knocking it into a wall. I don't know how John M. keeps his wings on. |

Before covering the wings, I actually visualized this system. And it worked perfectly! The copper tubes slipped into the preset tubes. The copper tubes were slotted using a Dremel. The flattened pieces are brass tubes that were flattened and inserted into the airfoil shapes. A very sturdy structure. |

The copper wire is pretty heavy gage, but soft enough to bend to the angles needed. Glued in with thick super glue. |

These were part of the wheel assembly. Very early planning that actually paid off! Some more of that in other posts as well. |

Tail braces. Stiff wire. |

Nearer and nearer the finish line. |

Actually the paper pattern. Fits well. |

Maybe I should use clear instead of paper. Hard to see the cockpit now. |

Aluminum strip added to attach the glass. |

Looking inside. It wil be a bit harder to photograph once the glass is on. |

Additional cockpit details. The seatbelts are paper and the hooks are dress hooks. |

It's starting to look like an airplane. |

Velcro and rubber bands hold everything together. The struts are very sturdy. |

Wings attached. A balsa wedge shape under the wings helps keep then in the right alignment. |

Tubes in wings to accept the struts. Actual preplanning that paid off. |

Wing struts are airfoil shaped aluminum tube with copper wire inserts. |

Same as before, other side of fuselage. |

I never thought a Cub engine would be such a jewel. It looks absolutely real! |
