And the details continue! Beautiful!

One of the weirder dog fights of WW2 was when a Piper Cub engaged a Feisler Storch in a running battle, each shooting at the other with their side arms! The Cub managed to force down the Storch with his Colt 45.

The bazookas are brass tube wrapped in paper and thread soaked in white glue. The frames around the back are solder. I still need to attach the safety ring to them. I figure, in order to save weight, any unessential part would be removed, so I am not adding the bazooka battery boxes or triggers. I imagine these would be ignited via the plane's electrical system. Better than trying to shoot a tank and have the batteries wear out.

One reason I chose "Rosie The Rocketer" was the idea of a Piper Cub with six bazookas attached. The pilot, Major Charles Carpenter, got tired of observing the war, and wanted to participate. I believe he is credited with killing a few tanks and armored vehicles. This wasn't condoned by the higher brass. They wanted the observer planes to work in conjunction with the artillery. Freelancing was discouraged. But Major Carpenter convinced them he could do both.

The Formula '56 Canopy Glue dries absolutely clear. No fogging on the clear parts. I even used it to attach the wing fillets to the wings-metal to paper. I like this stuff.

The flat window are cut from the heavy duty plastic that protected some purchased item. Nice, thick and clear. It wouldn't conform to the front windscreen. That would show stress cracks at the upper corners. I used a thinner piece of plastic for that. The bottom aluminum frame is rough. Reverse compound curves are hard to form.

I've also added aluminum fillets between the wings and the top of the fuselage. There is some rivet detail on the frames. Not too much, I got a bit rushed.

This Cub will have claws.

Best adhesive for clear parts!

Curved windscreen was touchy.

Tis a beauty!

The horizontal tailplane was fairly flimsy until these were added. Not exactly prototypical, but again, very sturdy.

Not to say I don't have other issues to work out....

The glass will be in two pieces. The back part, shown here, and the front windscreen. That one is a bit of a challenge with all the curves. I'm working out those issues now.

I still need to add the throttle controls, just above the fuel mixture.
