| On a 3S pack performance was excellent and it took off like a rocket, with a 2S pack it took full throttle to keep airborne. The 350 mAh pack keeps me to about 4-5 minute flights so I either need to weigh it down with a larger battery and/or install a battery hatch to make changing the battery less arduous. The aileron controls were a little sloppy due the cable that connects them having a little slop, which made smooth flying a challenge as I was always overshooting my turns and roll corrections. There was also a tail wag at times that may be caused by too small a rudder and/or vertical stabilizer. But since the rudder linkage is starting to slip it is possible that the rudder is just flapping in the breeze so I'll fix the linkage before I start adding wood to the tail. Overall it was surprisingly easy to fly, but required lots of speed and landings must be done at about 1/2 throttle with a good bit of speed. My last landing was the worst and I busted up the nose again so some repairs are in order. |

Clear, calm, cold, and about an hour before anyone else shows up to fly. They all flew fine and I only broke two of three props. I had the Aero-Star at full throttle and high rates doing rolls, loops, and Immelmann turns, then I came down for a touch and go but caught the prop on the runway and so much ice flew off I thought I had broken something (other than the prop). After I got home I changed the wheels on the Aero-Star and have almost 3/4" more ground clearance which should help with the prop breakage. |

| We get lilacs too, but not this early. Crocus should be out soon, I saw one today but nothing like when a whole bed of them erupt at once. Not good lighting like in DD's pictures as the sun wasn't cooperating with me. |

All put back together and ready to fly again. AUW is 9.3 ounces and the CG is right where it should be with no need to shove the battery way up into the nose. The ESC was getting a little warm from just doing a little taxiing about the floor so I may cut open some holes for airflow. |

| This particular model was built almost exclusively with PVA wood glue. I did use a little epoxy on the landing gear and canopy glue for the canopy. I cheated on the motor mount rebuild and used thick and medium CA. I'm allergic to the stuff so I had the window open and was standing in front of it for several minutes, at least it was 40F or so.
Glues are like vehicles, you have different types for different purposes and within each group people have different preferences. There are some good discussions on this topic so rather than ramble on here I'll direct you to this thread over at the Guillow's forum. |

| Hey SteveM.Just wondering about glue. What are you using and why. I'm a bit tired of saving time during the build with ca and then getting bit later on during the sanding stages. Anybody else have preferences? What and why and where. |

It's been longer than I would have liked, but with the motor and ESC issues sorted out I'm working on the repairs. A few more hours and I should be ready to fly again. With the old motor I had to add nose weight which drove the weight to 9 oz, with the new motor AUW is about 9.3 ounces, but no nose weight is required and I don't think I'll have any troubles with a heavy tail. |

The repaired ESC arrived today with a note saying to contact CC as they think my setup is causing the overheating problems. Sure enough, an identical, known to be good ESC gets hot when used with this motor. |

| I just got an email from CC saying a Priority Mail envelope shipped to me today. I assume it is the rebuilt ESC so I best get going on repairing this plane, not that I could fly it in this weather though. |
