I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

Wow, cool.

My Russian is not very good, but I think it says no to touch the elevator.

Nearly everyone is lined up to sit in the cockpit. I decided to pass up the opportunity for fear I'd break something or bump the button for the compressed air starter.

Jim Bourke (in the red jacket) kindly allowed the local RC group to view his Yak-54 "Russian Thunder" tonight.

You do have some lovely stripes, but they just don't do it for me. I'm thinking an American counter to those roundels James insists on using.

James' Tyro...best scheme...I'm hurt. ;)

Not yet. I looked through the pictures here on VA and the best scheme I saw was James'. I figure it needs bright colors, but maybe I can do something with the brush that would be difficult with solite.

Looking good Steve, do you have a paint scheme yet?

Second coat of primer on the wing. I think it's time to heed John O. and go to the hardware store for house paint samples and a 1.5" brush.

It works for low power tests, for full throttle I have to put a foot on each wing LE to hold it in place. AUW is 13.34 oz plus the weight of paint. My battery is only 640 mAh so a properly sized 1500 mAh battery would add 2 ounces to that.

Ah, the ole box-of-razors-for-chocks trick. :)

You're absolutely correct, no fuel or exhaust to deal with. Just have to be careful when recharging LiPo batteries to avoid nasty fires. I like the sound the gearbox gives off, noisier than a direct drive but has a very mechanical gear sound to it.

Yes, but with the noise and thrust came no fuel residue to mar the finish.

High ISO shot of the motor, interesting how the exposure makes the fuselage visible though the top blade. Full throttle produced lots of noise and thrust.

Testing the motor and servos.

Electrics don't require the heavy airframes like the gas engines you used to use. And with these Molt Models kits there is no need to do anything special to make them light like when working with a Guillow's kit.

36.25" wingspan

Just looked thru th whole build thread..........answered my own question about the clear coating.......doh!
Xanadu, Comment for image # 743530 Mar 08 10:58
You covered it all in clear monokote? Whats the wingspan? Looking good, can hardly wait to see it flying.

Beautiful like that of a fine gear watch!
