I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

I have always used a small screw on mine, as I thought something like that could happen.!

I did some reading on RCGroups and found that many people have had to move the battery aft to under the wing to get the Tyro to balance on the spar. I shifted my battery so it is 1/2 in the battery area and 1/2 under the wing and took off the prop and now it balances on the leading edge of the spar. My maiden flights will likely be made with much lighter 2 blade GWS props so I think this will be fine for now. I want to try using 3 cells of the 1100 mAh LiFe batteries so I might as well put off serious battery mods till I have them in hand.

A nice video of a different flight too

I installed this screw to keep the motor on the mounting stick about 30 seconds after reading this hilarious post by James.

It sure could use something, but I'm not sure I'd be happy with green. Maybe I will continue the blue/white or possibly just paint the whole area black. Oh, and it balances about 1/2" forward of the wing spar, I need to search around to see if that is appropriate.

Seeing as the rest of the aircraft looks so good, how about a bit of cockpit green in the 'engine bay'?!

Testing out the motor and servos. AUW is 14.7 oz as shown here with the 640 mAh battery. Rain and 10 MPH wind is the forcast for the next week, I guess that gives me time to adjust all the servos and practice on the simulator.

The Gadsden flag warns you to stay clear of the business end and not to mess with the rebelious American colonies.

The Stars and Bars grace this Tyro.

View of the battery, receiver, ESC, and servos. Wire marking labels make great labels for servo leads.

Eureka! I have found a way to run PicLens and CastleLink without rebooting into Windows.

Yep, just good ol' Liquitex thinned about 50/50 with water. I stuck with colors straight from the tube to simplify repairs as there will be no need to remix the proper colors. The local craft store appears to be discontinuing Liquitex so I was able to get some tubes for around $3 each. Can't wait for the new Michael's store to open and help take a bite out of small town craft store prices. I had two small spots that paint lifted from when I peeled back the masking tape. The only prep I did was to wipe with alcohol, but on the Hellcat I will try the technique of wiping with vinegar followed by alcohol.

Is that the paint you used in the background? That weight seems pretty good to me.
SteveM, Comment for image # 783517 Apr 08 13:58
Thanks! Before painting I got 13.34 oz AUW (except for paint). I just weighed the plane and got about 13.5 oz. That seems a little light for paint so I probably have made a weighing error now or previously (I have to weigh in parts which introduces greater possibility for error). I had best refrain from further AUW speculation until she is ready to maiden.

Hey, looks great Steve! Very sharp. Did you measure the weight before and after painting?
SteveM, Image # 783617 Apr 08 04:24

It needs some windows, all that blue on the front is just too much. I also printed up some decals to be put on in a day or two.
SteveM, Image # 783517 Apr 08 04:19

Almost done with the painting, a little touch-up is needed here and there.

First the white and now slowly adding the red. The next color will be...

Well, yeah, the first two words say that. What do the last three words mean?
