I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

The joys of living in a humid climate. I remember doing windows just like those. At least the snow has melted.

the OL-8 project is shelved for a while: 6 windows done and only 24 left. I'll be checking in. Have a fun summer!!!

Quite the workmanship.

Thanks Rayl. Will do.

Sky; go to page 7 of this build log and start from there.

Us VA guys OCD? We're all okay. Really. Just fine, thank you. No problem. Honest. Just going through life really, like great. Ya know? Rayl, how's the model coming along? Haven't heard how you did the stitches.

We all have our own demons. Young people call it too much information.

The guys at the VA are in the minor leagues when it comes to OCD (or being anal retentive): The picture is from Jim Landoni of Denver, and is one of many that document his build of a 1/16 JN-4. You can ind it on Flickr under the "great Landoni"

Beautiful job Rayl. What techniques did you use for the stitching? I was going to add them to my S.E. 5, but to maintain reasonable scale fidelity, each stitch would've only been 1/16" wide and the surface tape about 1/8" wide.

Have to admire you for your perseverance. How did you do it? What were the steps? You counted over 9,000, and to think I skipped the stitches because I "only" counted 4, 280..... Very nicely done! Hats off to you sir.

Sounds reasonable, rayl. Skye and I thank you. That's a great picture, by the way. Wouldn't you just love to find something like that sitting in a barn and take it home? Did that once with a vintage motorcycle.

BiPlane Guy; If you want a Scientific Wild Ass Guess:I would say that is a cover for the fuel tank hold-down. Look at the picutre and you will see the two brackets on the centerline of the wing that correspond to the shape on your model. Looking at other PT-17 pictures shows that there are thru-bolts through the U-channel to retain the tank. I think.

I love to see work as fine as this......

Wow! Can't wait to see more.

That's dedication. Looks great!
rayl, Image # 3603412 May 16 11:27

Tedious but once I got the system figured out, it didn't take all that long.
rayl, Image # 3603312 May 16 11:25

Well, after about 9600 "stiches" and over 200 surface tapes, (but who's counting), I believe that I can move on.

The detail work astounds me some days.
