All of the "metal" structures primed and sanded to 600 grit W&D. Now to add the little details like rivets (from MicroMark after seeing how they looked on Sky's SE5A) and a few things like louvers and hand-holds. |

Thanks for the reply. Don't have any miniature lathe but will review John O's postings again. Beautiful work. |

DD: They are the finished product, no further work needed.
Sky: Check my earlier post: I turned the rims on my minilathe (took three tries before I was happy with the result) out of PVC pipe ala John O. |

Wow. Where did you managed to acquire them? |

These are great. I hope you are not planning to paint them! |

Well it was worth the work. They are great. I suppose the valve stems work too. :) |

Yes, I can make decals on a inkjet printer. Your LHS or Hobby Lobby will have Testor's decal paper that comes with instruction on how to do it (or Google "making decals"). Yep, the wheels are mine: took me three tries to get the rims the way I wanted them. The "spokes" are 0.019" Bead-alon flexible wire. |

I just looked up the survey. Now I understand the idea for your model. That's cool. Can you make a decal? I can't - yet. Nice wheels. Are those your work too? |

These are the whells that I will be using. They even have the valve stems. |

I can't belive that I found a picture of the original Alaskan Survey emblem! Now I have to figure out how to manipulate it in "Paint" to make the background white. |

Not a 4-blade, but thanks. I need a three blade, about 8 in Dia. I'm thinking of buying one from Horizon Hobbies as I have already sprung for Williams Bros. 9 Cyl. Radial engine. I know; it's a cop-out. |

I understand - need a 4 bladed prop? Looking good. Wish my cleats were that big. |

I see you already installed the tie-down on the front of the float. Great job, & attention to detail! |

Looks great. You really make a challenging project look easy. Your research & work is paying off big time. |

I tend to get into a OCD mode when reasearching a plane. It always seems that you find the perfect detail shot AFTER you need it. Last Sunday I finally happened to find a good picture of the float that showed that I had the wheel wells in the wrong shape. A little styrene and body putty filled in the erroneous shape so now I can move on. |

Finished adding some details to the hull. Movie line from someone comes to mind: "A man's got ta know his limitations". Laid on the first coat of Liquatex primer. I am impressed with the way that the Liquatex goes on and covers; Thanks for the recommendation DD. |

Thanks Guys !!!
Sky, Yes, I made those (prototype, proof of concept; whatever you want to call it) wheels. I will probably make another set for the Loening. |
