Forming up the cockpit fairing from .030 Styrene. |

I would guess that, based on your scale of 1/14th, the width of your scale surface tape would be about slightly less than 1/4" width. 5" would be almost a half foot in width in the real world of aircraft. That would be an equivalent to about nearly 1/2" in width. |

Call it artistic license, or doing what works. |

DD, that phrase "next level of magnitude" was just an expression of taking scale detailing beyond the average build. To include rib stitching and surface tape is, to me, going beyond the ordinary. You do this all the time with every-single-one-of-your builds... :) |

Rayl, in one of your last posts, you said the surface tapes were cut to 5" width in scale. I believe that the correct scale width is 3" at the most. I used to work on real aircraft covering. We used pinked tape over the rib stitching and all were at 3" width. Just thought you'd might wish to double check. |

Sky; about 1/14 |

What does "next level of magnitude" mean? |

I forgot, what's the scale of your Loening? |

Wow Rayl. Not only have you just managed to cover the wings for the first time, but you also took it to the next level of magnitude. At the same time, you're soooo modest about it. Great job! |

Looks like you've done it! And the bar gets higher. |

I was beginning to think you were going to weave the wing covering. |

BTW: I found about a dozen places on the Web that gave me he idea to try this. No way that I'm smart enough to come up with this on my own. |

So now I'm off to join my minions to help with the wings. Thanks for looking! |

Primed with Liquatex Gray. I think that I lke it. |

Comparison of the two tissues covering the rib lacing tapes. |

Cut covering strips (a scale 5 inches wide). I tried both SIlkspan from Brodak and some domestic tissue (left over from a Guillows kit that I never finished): the Guillows tissue worked better., |

Glued the strips onto the wing over the wings. THis where I decided that using 20# (or lighter) paper would have worked better. |

Strips with the string. I think that this is going to work. |

OK, now the lines on the front of the board come into play. Using the Olfa cutter and straight-edge, I sliced the paper and string into 3/32" strips. |

GLue applied and waiting for it to dry. It will all flatten out. |
