I think all is working again now. Please leave a comment on a photo somewhere if something you need is not working still.

Definitely "The Next Level of Magnitude!!" Did you also fabricate the wheels? I can't seem to recall. The workmanship has me envious.

Very, very nice.

TEst fit of all the components. I stiil need to fab the drag-links that go into the two holes of the hub up to the front of the wheel well..

Spent the last two days in my "machine shop" fabricating the L/G out of K&S brass tubing and strap. Getting there.

This is due to Google bots that search forums and saves images. The pics on Google redirects you to this forum.

Rayl, don't know if your are posting on another site, but if you Google onto "Drawings of Loening OA-1A, you'll come up with photos of your build. This is especially regarding your vacuum molding the wheel wells....

Rayl, by the way, if you're looking for accessories that are needed for the float, try Blue Jacket. They've got lots of nautical accessories in various sizes.

I agree with DD. Fascinating to see someone craft such an unusual aircraft. I hope to build the OA-1A version someday, so you're not alone. I'm really closely following your build. You are doing just great Rayl!!

Strange looking critter, Ray, but nice. Lots of extra work that paid off.

Oh Yea, I made whole new set of tail-feathers cuz I didn't like the first set. I suppose now it's time to work on the landing gear (sigh).

About a week later, I now have a new float that is straight. Been adding details out of styrene to the float and carved a motor mount ring out of basswood.
rayl, Image # 3564723 Feb 16 11:30

I started to mate teh fuse to the float hull and realized that the float had a distinct curve in the keel (Bannana Boat?). So, I started all over again, including making new & better masters for the wheel wells.

Having a 400 sq ft "Retirement Cave" is awfully nice. The vac-form is actually 5" X 7". I use a old toaster oven to heat the plastic and a 5 gal shop-vac to draw it down: nothing extravagant by any means.

Looks really good there. You are a true artiste in every sense of the word. I wanna be just like you when I grow up. Sure wish I had the room for a vacuum form machine. But a one-room apartment just doesn't allow for that. You've got the freedom to really express yourself.

The front cockpit fairing.
