That worked out quite well. |

LoL... I agree. Looks as though this little fuselage can only take on so much detailing. Believe it or not, I have to add the engine block before covering. By the way, your Loening looks great. The float is nothing short of fantastic. I agree about OCD'g on research. Maybe that's my problem too. |

looks like you are running out of room to put things on! |

Added just a simple coat of olive drab. Most of the area surrounding the machine gun trough will be covered. |

Rough cut on the ply sheeting. Read in a British publication that soaking ply in ammonia helps to temporarily break down the adhesives inside the ply rather than soaking in plain water for hours on end., |

Reinforced the sides |

Had to temporarily suspend adding the immediate section in front of the cockpit and jump ahead a bit to prepare the machine gun "trough." |

Just after all the hours of carefully fitting the ply, I discovered that I would not be able to sheet the next section of the fuselage under the machine gun. Soooo |

Thank you gentlemen. It's really much appreciated. Poppy, a special question. If I recall, you made a radial engine from scratch. Did you say you used some sort of plastic threaded ends? |

Cut, fit, cut, fit ad nauseum but it worked out in the end. |

LoL...I just squint a lot. From all the pictures of the cockpit interiors of the S.E. 5, nearly all of them featured some kind of wood interiors that closely resemble wood paneling. I guess if the pilot is going into combat, he might as well go in style..... |
