Love the green with the purple gauges! Looks very German. |

I understand. It's hard to know/accept when enough is enough. |

LoL...Funny you should say that. Each time I think I've covered all of the detailing, something else pops up that I've overlooked. Thank you for your appraisal. |

I think you're providing the answer to the question "Are we having fun yet?" That's neat! |

Overall top view showing both sides. The large rounded valve covers will go on after the covering of the forward fuselage. |

I apologize for the dark image, but it looks pretty good. With the balsa former painted black, they are not so conspicuous between the slots |

Slotting in the "faux" engine sides |

Dry brushing with a touch of silver for a bit of extra detailing to bring out the gaskets |

All photos show the engine painted in glossy black, so ... |

A bit of detailing in the form of exhaust gaskets |

Installed balsa blocks in between the formers and painted flat black |
Skyediamonds1985, Image # 35709 | 12 Mar 16 15:42 |
Added a "faux" forward bulkhead in the form of glossy paper painted gray. |

This is a bad image, but after cutting way the portions of the formers, I painted the forward fuselage black. This way, The slotted faux engine side wouldn't have balsa wood peeking through |

Marked the areas to be cut away while preserving the overall formers and shape of the forward fuselage. |

Seeing that the fuselage was pretty much already framed up, I didn't want to cut away too much of the formers/bulkheads. If I did cut away the formers, then there would be nothing left to support the outside covering. So, I decided upon a crazy idea. You can easily see from this sample what I'm about to do. |

When in fact, closer views will show the exhaust supported directly to the crankcase just under the valve cover |

Initial observation shows the exhaust supported directly to the valve cover via short tubes. |
